How does sugaring compare to waxing? Sugaring is less painful, has less breakage, and leaves smoother, longer-lasting results. No sticks, strips, or sticky mess.
Is sugaring safe? Yes. We never re-use sugar paste. Sugaring paste is discarded after each treatment and bacteria does not breed in high concentrations of sugar, eliminating the possibility of cross-contamination. It is edible, biodegradable and most of our pastes are USDA Certified Organic. I'm pregnant, can I still get sugared? Yes! We have tons of experience with pregnant women and we love to sugar mamas. We will position you to accommodate your needs. Just know that you will most likely be more sensitive than normal, particularly in the bikini area.
Can my hair be too long? Yes and no. 1/8 of an inch is ideal. Sugaring can remove hair at longer lengths but there will be more discomfort and more breakage. We recommend trimming hair down to between 1/8 and 1/4 inch, or better yet, timing your appointment so that your hair is at that length. That translates into 10-14 days of growth if you shave, and about 4 weeks if you wax or sugar.
What about ingrown hairs? Should I exfoliate? Ingrown hairs do sometimes happen, particularly if you are prone to getting them. They happen less often with sugaring since it removes your hair in the direction of growth; also, sugar being sugar, it is naturally an exfoliating process. Exfoliating at home 2 days prior and 2 days after your appointment (in addition to exfoliating a couple times a week) is highly recommended. Do NOT exfoliate the day of or the day prior to your appointment. Vajacials are also a great way to deal with ingrowns, as well as being amazing in their own right.
Does it hurt? Most people experience some discomfort. Some experience a lot. Ensuring that your hair is not too long is an important pain deterrent. Overtime, as your body becomes accustomed to sugaring and your hair becomes thinner, there will be little to no discomfort. We do everything we can to make you as comfortable as possible.
What is the difference between Basic Bikini, Basic Plus, Extended Bikini, Extended Bikini Plus, and a Brazilian? A Basic Bikini removes the hair outside of the bikini line and one finger width in from the crease. A Basic Plus also includes between the cheeks. An Extended Bikini removes hair about 2 inches into the bikini line but does not include the majority of hair from the labia or anything between the cheeks. An Extended Bikini Plus includes between the cheeks. A Brazilian removes all the hair from the pubic area and between the cheeks, though you may elect to leave a "landing strip" or similar.
Are You LGBTQ friendly? Yes, definitely. Should I bathe before I get my Bikini sugared? Yes, definitely.
What forms of payment do you accept? We accept cash and all major credit/debit cards.
Can you sugar my beard? We can. But do you want us to? Your beard hair will grow back spotty as follicles die. If you ever want to have facial hair again, then this option is not for you. Additionally, beard hair is quite coarse, so the process would potentially be quite uncomfortable.
What if I want to have something sugared that is not on your menu? Just ask. We'll be happy to remove any unwanted body hair that is within the realm of possibility.
How long will it last? That varies with each individual. Generally 4-6 weeks.
Can I get sugared if I use Retin-A products? In many cases you can. Since sugar only adheres to dead skin cells, there is no lifting of the skin, meaning the likelihood of tearing is very small. Be sure to disclose the products you are using on your intake form, as we will sugar you with your medical history in mind. If you would like to discuss Retin-A, or other drug interactions, prior to booking an appointment, please contact us. We're always happy to hear from you.
What is your cancellation policy? We kindly request that you cancel AT LEAST 24 hours prior to your appointment if something unexpected comes up. You can do so online or by calling. For appointments canceled within 24 hours, for no-shows, or if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment time, we reserve the right to charge the full appointment cost. Saturday appointments always require payment in full at the time of booking and late cancellation may result in the charge of the full fee.
