Do you sugar all genders? We currently are unable to accept clients with penises, regardless of gender identity.
I have my period. What do I do? Period sugaring is business as usual for us. Put in a cup or tampon as you usually do. You will probably be a bit more sensitive but that’s about it. How does sugaring compare to waxing? Sugaring is less painful, has less breakage, and leaves smoother, longer-lasting results. No sticks, strips, or sticky mess.
Is sugaring safe? Yes. We never re-use sugar paste. Sugaring paste is discarded after each treatment and bacteria does not breed in high concentrations of sugar, eliminating the possibility of cross-contamination. It is edible, biodegradable and our pastes are USDA Certified Organic.
I'm pregnant, can I still get sugared? Yes! We have tons of experience with pregnant women and we love to sugar mamas. We will position you to accommodate your needs. Just know that you will most likely be more sensitive than normal, particularly in the bikini area.
Can my hair be too long? No. 1/8-1/4 of an inch (the length of a grain of rice) is ideal, although sugaring can remove hair at longer lengths. We recommend not trimming hair down as it can end up being too short, making removal impossible. That translates into 10-14 days of growth if you shave, and about 4 weeks if you wax or sugar. Please note: if you arrive with hair too short to extract you will still be charged the full price for the appointment booked.
What about ingrown hairs? Should I exfoliate? Ingrown hairs do sometimes happen, particularly if you are prone to getting them. They happen less often with sugaring since it removes your hair in the direction of growth. Also, sugar is a natural exfoliant, so the sugaring process gently exfoliates. Exfoliating at home 2 days prior and 2 days after your appointment (in addition to regularly exfoliating a couple times a week) is highly recommended to help prevent ingrown hairs. Do NOT exfoliate the day of or the day prior to your appointment.
Does it hurt? Most people experience some discomfort. Some experience a lot. Overtime, as your body becomes accustomed to sugaring and your hair becomes thinner, there will be little to no discomfort. We do everything we can to make you as comfortable as possible. Here are some tips to reduce pain:
Ensuring that your hair is not too short is an important pain deterrent.
A pain reliever or anti-inflammatory can be taken 30 minutes prior to a waxing appointment to minimize discomfort.
Limit your caffeine intake the day of your appointment as it can stimulate the nervous system and make waxing more painful.
Waxing on or near your menstrual cycle can be more painful so please schedule your visit wisely. We are still happy to perform the waxing service, just be aware that you may be more sensitive.
Are You LGBTQ friendly? Yes, definitely. Should I bathe before I get my Bikini sugared? Yes, definitely.
What forms of payment do you accept? We accept cash and all major credit/debit cards.
What if I want to have something sugared that is not on your menu? Just ask. We'll be happy to remove any unwanted body hair that is within the realm of possibility.
How long will it last? That varies with each individual. Generally 4-6 weeks.
Can't I just do it at home? While we fully support DIY culture, tearing and burning of the skin as well as serious frustration are known to happen for home waxers. Let a professional do it! We're as thorough as can be, not to mention gentle, kind and safe.
Can I get sugared if I use Retin-A products? In many cases you can. Since sugar only adheres to dead skin cells, there is no lifting of the skin, meaning the likelihood of tearing is very small. Be sure to disclose the products you are using on your intake form, as we will sugar you with your medical history in mind. If you would like to discuss Retin-A, or other drug interactions, prior to booking an appointment, please contact us. We're always happy to hear from you.
